New Poll Explores U.S. Catholics’ Views of the Pope After His First Year

A grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation will enable St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota to lead a national campaign to promote the numerous contributions of women religious. The first-ever celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week, sponsored by an organization of the same name, will take place March 8-14 and will be kicked off with an event March 7-9 at St. Catherine University.

To Celebrate the Feast Day of St Katharine Drexel and to give the parishioners a better understanding of the historical significance of the creation of the Holy Cross Parish, Msgr. Michael Howell gave a history of the origination of the Holy Cross Church and buildings and how St. Katharine Drexel was so instrumental in the purchasing of these buildings.

Catholic Charities Office of Ministry and Life Enrichment for the Disabled celebrated Ash Wednesday at the United Vietnam Veterans of Texas VFW Post 2397 on March 5. Deacon Michael Rauen prayed and distributed ashes to the veterans and the 75 persons with disabilities in attendance.

Incarnate Word Academy freshman Sheridan Steen recently organized a jeans drive in partnership with DoSomething.org’s Teens for Jeans campaign. Sheridan and her classmates collected hundreds of jeans, which will be donated to homeless youth.

Rollo’s Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports children of hard-working, low-earning families by providing them with food, clothes, shoes and toys, announced they will host their second annual rummage sale on Saturday, March 8, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Party Ventures Event Hall, located at 1257 Nile Dr., to raise funds for their inaugural Easter event.
