The American Heritage Girls TX0624 at St. Thomas the Apostle in Robstown provided blessing bags, winter clothing, supplies, toys and fellowship to the women and children of the Rainbow House on Dec. 16, 2014.

In a tradition started in 2005, Incarnate Word Academy students unloaded two busloads of gifts, filling a conference room, at Child Protective Services. The donated presents were given to children assisted by the state agency that investigates reports of abuse and neglected of children.

On Saturday, Jan. 3, local-area boy scout Aaron Guzman and his family gave up their morning to install a new flagpole in front of Holy Family Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. It was part of Guzman's Eagle Scout Project.

Sister Mary Jesus Martires, OP celebrated her Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession with a Thanksgiving Mass and reception at St. Paul, the Apostle Church on Jan. 3. She was joined by a host of family, friends, priests and other religious in the Congregation of the Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic. Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana, Apostolic Nuncio to the Democratic Rebublic of Congo was the main celebrant.

St. Anthony of Padua parish in Robstown held a Christmas Pageant and Vigil Mass on Dec. 24, at 11:30 p.m. The Vigil Mass began at midnight.

The Corpus Christi Cathedral hosted three performances of “A Cathedral Holiday New Year’s Spectacular! The Joy of Christmas” on Jan. 2 and 3. Choir director Lee Gwozdz said that more than 200 singers from the five cathedral choirs performed along with the members of the Corpus Christi Symphony. The Cathedral's 1,000 seats were filled to capacity for all three performances.

The Office of Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Corpus Christi held a TOUGH (Teens Open Up to God's Holiness) Retreat for the first time at the Pax Christi Liturgical Retreat Center on Dec. 19-21, 2014, under the direction of Aguie Soliz and Maire Bustamante. The two co-coordinators led 27 youth, young adults and adult staff volunteers to receive 96 teen participants from the different parishes throughout the diocese.

A check for more than $40,000 will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the lobby of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Beeville, made possible by the 2014 Beeville Ladies Night Out Committee.

Hope House of Corpus Christi has signed a one-year contract for two 12’ x 40’ rotating billboards at prime locations in and around Corpus Christi with Corpus Christi Pregnancy Resource Center’s phone number. The billboards are now located at 1821 SPID by Greenwood near Wal-Mart and at the Crosstown and Brownlee intersections.

Eagle Scout John Harney made tables and chairs for the Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth. Harney is from BSA Troop 162, Saint Patrick Church, South Texas Council. He will be among five scouts honored at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony on Jan. 3 celebrated in St. Patrick Parish Hall.
