The Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth in Calallen has reached a milestone by serving 3,000 abused, neglected and displaced children and youth.

The 32nd Cathedral Concert Series for 2015-2016 presents "Mardi Gras with the Canadian Brass" on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 in Corpus Christi Cathedral. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

A man came to the South Texas Human Rights Center in Falfurrias representing the family of a young man who was seemingly lost in Brooks County attempting to safely cross the border by going around the border fence (the funnel effect).

Some 350 teachers, staff and faculty from 15 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Corpus Christi attended the 2016 Diocesan In-service Day on Jan. 4. There were morning and afternoon sessions in five different rooms at St. John Paul II and Bishop Garriga Middle Preparatory schools. The groups were divided by: grade levels, Math and non-Math teachers and all content area teachers.

Sister Annette Wagner was elected superior general of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament in Corpus Christi and will begin her four-year term after installation on Friday, June 10, 2016. Also elected to the congregation’s leadership team for the term 2016-2020 are Sister Maria Irma Gonzalez, councilor and assistant general, and councilors Sister Colette Brehony, Sister Barbara Netek and Sister Marilyn Grace Springs.

Four students from St. John Paul II High School sang with the Corpus Christi Cathedral Choir before Pope Francis on two separate occasions over the Christmas break. They also sang at various churches and twice at St. Peter's Basilica. Travelling to Rome were Theresia Hendricks, Christian McAllister, Gabrielle Doucet and Danielle Doucet.
