Quisiera desearles una muy bendecida y Santa estación de Adviento y Navidad a todos los lectores y a sus familias. Estoy particularmente impresionado por las palabras de San Pablo a los Tesalonicenses I, en la segunda lectura del primer Domingo de Adviento; “Que el Señor incremente en abundancia, el amor del uno por el otro y para todos sus semejantes, de la misma manera en que nosotros lo hemos hecho por cada uno de ustedes, así como que fortalezca sus corazones, para que estén sin mancha y en santidad ante Dios Padre en la venida de Nuestro Señor Jesús con todos sus santos.” Para muchos, la Navidad, ha sido tradicionalmente un tiempo para pasarla en familia y con amigos, y estas palabras quizás pasen por nuestros oídos sin penetrar verdaderamente en nuestros corazones. La verdad es que muchas personas no experimentan buenas relaciones en la familia, mas aún han experimentado rupturas familiares y heridas emocionales durante el año pasado.

I would like to wish a very blessed and holy Advent and Christmas season to all of you reading this and to your families. I am particularly struck this year by the words from I Thessalonians in the second reading from the first Sunday of Advent: “May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you, so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones.” For many, Christmas is traditionally a time spent with family and friends, and these words might pass our ears without really penetrating our hearts. The truth is that many don’t experience good family relationships, and even more have experienced broken relationships and hurt during the past year.
