Students from Sacred Heart School (SHS) learned positive reinforcements from a recent NED program. The school-wide character education program centers around a 45-minute assembly called The NED Show. NED is a loveable cartoon character whose name is an acronym for "Never give up." "Encourage others." And "Do your best." 

Father Paul Hesse, the pastor of St. Pius X Parish, led the Catholic school staff in prayer, praying the rosary for kindergarten student Julian Galloway, who is battling medulloblastoma for the second time. The rosary was held on Sept. 8, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.

Taking inspiration from their patron, St. John Paul II High School has elevated its core teaching with the addition of the “Classically Inspired Curriculum,” a new initiative to introduce young minds with opportunities that inspire deep thinking alongside enhanced learning.

Incarnate Word Academy welcomes Kevin Steen to Angel Territory as the new Athletic Director. Steen is a licensed athletic trainer and TSATA Sports Medicine certified instructor with considerable experience creating a positive, Christ-centered atmosphere for athletes, coaches, staff, and parents.

Two fifth grade students, Nicolas Vargas and David Hinojosa, from St. Pius X Catholic School, won first and third place in the Corpus Christi Mayor's 4th of July Big Bang Celebration essay contest on June 29. Joseph Fulginiti, a seventh-grader from Baker Middle School, placed second.

Students from St. Pius X Catholic School were invited to spend part of their summer attending the school's STREAM summer camps during June. For some of the students, STREAM classes will continue until July 2.

St. Elizabeth School, in Alice, was awarded designation as a Healthy South Texas School in May 2021.   A Healthy South Texas School is one that implemented extra steps throughout the year to offer food & nutrition and/or physical activity programs outside their regular curricula to both students and families.

Fifth grade students at Incarnate Word Academy held a virtual Wax Museum event during the 2020-2021 school year. The project took several days in the making and students began recording on May 15.

​​​​​​​Incarnate Word Academy High School seniors celebrated their graduations by attending a Baccalaureate Mass at Corpus Christi Cathedral on May 28. Sixty seniors from IWA completed their high school journey at the altar of Corpus Christi Cathedral.

Father Ray Yrlas, Jr. celebrated Mass honoring the fifth graders at Sacred Heart School in Rockport. These students have been through Hurricane Harvey, moving to modular classes, enduring the pandemic, learning online and then the closing of the school during the 2021 freeze.

For Brigette Violet Esquivel-Escamilla, St. John Paul II High School is “a wonderful community that will support you in academic, mental, and spiritual growth. “The lessons you learn at JPII are very valuable in your future endeavors and faith-based challenges, along with memories that will last a lifetime.”

For Valedictorian Mary Arnolds, her faith is a central part of her life. She said, “St. John Paul II offers more than just academic formation. It is a place of spiritual and personal formation. It is a place where students are supported by friends and teachers every step of the way.” 

St. John Paul II High School seniors celebrated their graduations by attending a Baccalaureate Mass at Corpus Christi Cathedral on Saturday, May 22. Sixty-six seniors from St. John Paul II completed their high school journey at the altar of Corpus Christi Cathedral.

Incarnate Word Academy hosted a retirement party for High School Level Religious Studies Teacher Sr. Judith Marie Saenz, IWBS on May 20 in the Angel Avenue Student Center.

The young children from St. Anthony Catholic School in Robstown waited restlessly to enter the newly built atrium. There was some giggling and fidgeting, typical for rambunctious and curious five-year-olds. But as they stepped into the newly designed portable building, one-by-one their demeanor immediately transformed.

Incarnate Word Academy Elementary Level student Jase Garcia was recently named as a State Grade-Level Winner by the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest. 

Fourth and fifth graders from Sacred Heart School in Rockport participated in Outdoor School at Camp Champions in Marble Falls. They took their first class called Teambuilding, where instructors taught the importance of Universal Respect in everything they do.

Incarnate Word Academy senior Jonah Lugo signed his National Letter of Intent with Sterling College on April 29 in the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium.

Incarnate Word Academy High School Level Golf Team recently competed in the TAPPS 5A Regional Championship at the River Crossing Golf Club in Spring Branch. The IWA Lady Angels won Regional Ladies Team 3rd place. Medals were awarded to the top 10 competitors, with juniors Kaitlyn Canales placing 5th and Victoria Wilson placing 9th. 

Incarnate Word Academy senior Julia Moore has received a 2021 Association of Teachers of French (AATF) Outstanding Senior in French Award. This award is made annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken. Recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French.
