Every Monday morning for the past four months over a dozen seniors from St. John Paul II High School have consistently volunteered to help serve breakfast and prep for lunch at the Mother Teresa Shelter.

Incarnate Word Academy High School Level Ladies Golf team came out on top at the TAPPS 5A State Championships at the Squaw Valley Golf Club in Glen Rose after two days of competing on May 9th and 10th.  

May is National Water Safety Month, and Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Corpus Christi are celebrating water safety education for Pre-K students. Mrs. Priscilla Schneider gave Water Safety Lessons to her PreK3 class at St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Alice on May 18.

Principal Kathy Barnes and Father Ray Yrlas took turns on the excavator knocking down the old Sacred Heart School buildings that Hurricane Harvey destroyed. 

Instead of doing typical Spring Break teenager activities like hanging out at the beach with friends or playing video games all day, some students from Incarnate Word Academy (IWA) preferred to be of service to others during a five-day mission trip to Fort Worth.

On Holy Thursday, students at St. John Paul II High School spent their half-day rotating through seven stations reflecting on the seven Last words of Christ. Mr. Benjamin Nye, chair of the Theology Department, organized the day of reflection and six additional teachers, including Mr. Michael Edghill, the principal at St. John Paul II High School, prepared reflections based on one of the seven last words of Christ. 

Since Ash Wednesday, students and their families from Sacred Heart School (SHS) in Rockport have collected cans for the Lenten “40 Cans for 40 Days.” 

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Incarnate Word Academy Class of 2022 senior Kaitlyn Canales signed her National Letter of Intent with the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith on April 13 in the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium.

Under the direction of Incarnate Word Academy Athletic Director Kevin Steen, the high school football program will begin next school year with training, coach additions, field improvements and modifications, and scrimmages in preparation for IWA’s first official season in TAPPS in the 2023-2024 school year.

St Elizabeth School in Alice is partnering with the Coastal Bend Blood Center to serve the community in a life-giving way. To maintain an adequate blood supply to help the people of the Coastal Bend, the Blood Center needs more than 150 registered blood donors each day.

Second graders from Sacred Heart School in Rockport make the Honor Roll for the first time. Students Anthony Danna, Kara Spangler, Paige Fulton, Karsyn Ford, Ayla Rey, Isabella Picarazzi, Tyler Parkoff, Kylie Spangler and Aubrey Ybarra were called up to the altar to receive a certificate for their accomplishment after Friday Mass on March 25.

This month Catholic schools across the Diocese of Corpus Christi partnered with their local police department, inviting their participation in school safety drills. 

Incarnate Word Academy (IWA) Middle Level student Jackson Ramus, the founder of Angels Defeating Mental Illness (ADMI) and IWA Campus Minister, Mrs. Ashley Cartwright, partnered with the Gulf Coast Humane Society to host therapy dog sessions to promote student well-being and decrease student anxiety during this semester’s final exams. 

Fifth graders from Sacred Heart School in Rockport honored volunteers of Castaways, a local resale shop made up of five local churches, that serve the people of Rockport, Fulton, and surrounding areas by offering quality goods at very low prices on March 1.

Incarnate Word Academy welcomed current and prospective parents and families to visit the IWA campus during the Open House and Student Showcase. 

Incarnate Word Academy students celebrated “TWOsday” on Feb. 22, by dressing up in tutus, ties, and two mismatched shoes while collecting $2 donations to New Life Refuge Ministries.

The Diocese of Corpus Christi Office of Catholic Schools conducted the second of a three-part workshop series entitled "Leaders for School Safety Workshop Series." The series focused on school safety and topics under its purview, such as protocol, preparedness, and management.

Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level students participated in the Hardest Math Problem contest sponsored by Scholastic. Fifty-five of our outstanding students advanced to the second and final rounds of the competition, with one sixth grader advancing in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade categories of the contest. 

St. Elizabeth Catholic School presents their 6th annual Glow 5k Walk/Run on Friday, March 4 at the Alice Municipal course. The event holds a standing record as the largest 5K in Alice. Over 800 people registered in 2020. 

Incarnate Word Academy (IWA) Elementary Level students donated blankets, towels, dog and cat food, treats and toys to the City of Corpus Christi’s Animal Care Service (CCACS) on Jan. 1 as part of National Catholic Schools Week (NCSW).
