IWA Montessori program celebrates founder

Elementary students enrolled in the Montessori program at Incarnate Word Academy celebrated Maria Montessori’s 142nd birthday on Aug. 31. The Montessori program, which bears her name, gives importance to the creative potential of a child while emphasizing independent thinking. It is aimed at bringing out the natural mental development of a child.
 
Students displayed their class projects on her legacy at the Incarnate Word Academy Montessori Building. The students also shared their reasons for why they enjoy the program. Early in the morning, parents were greeted with famous quotations from Maria Montessori in heart-shaped cutouts as they dropped off their little ones.
 
Incarnate Word Academy Montessori is the oldest Montessori school in Corpus Christi and is committed to excellence in Montessori education. The program offers the fullest possible development of the whole child.
 
“Our Montessori program encourages a child's natural curiosity and instills a life-long love of learning. It provides an environment that teaches respect, compassion, and responsibility for each other and for the environment,” Dominique Damian, Media Relations for Incarnate Word Academy said.
