Catholic Charities was established on September 2, 1965 when Monsignor William Kinlough began to develop programs to serve the poor. During this period of development, many of the Diocesan priests contributed to the development and implementation of programs. In 1971, six years after the establishment of Catholic Charities, it was decided to officially appoint a Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization. Over the years, we have helped thousands of individuals and families in need.
The Mission of Catholic Charities is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to provide service to people in need and to address social ills that undermine the dignity of the person. The ultimate goal of Catholic Charities is to create positive life changing opportunities for those in need without regard to color, race, or creed.
Believing in the presence of God in our midst, we proclaim the sanctity of human life and the dignity of the person by sharing in the Mission of Jesus given to all. To this end, Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi works with individuals, families, and communities to help them meet their needs, address challenges, eliminate oppression, and build a just and compassionate society.
