Girl Scouts from across the area received Catholic religious awards during a ceremony at St. Patrick Church on Sunday, June 22. Bishop Michael Mulvey presided over the ceremony, which included the week’s Gospel reading and a brief homily.
Bishop Mulvey encouraged the young ladies to always be present during Mass and listen attentively to the Word of God. “When you come to Mass, you need to listen because God is speaking to you,” he said. “And if you listen very closely, you might hear something that will make you say: ‘Wow, I never thought of it that way.’”
He also praised the youth for being generous with their time to help others, while also developing and strengthening their own faith. “You are leading others to Jesus Christ. Thank you for your ministry. I hope you understand how important each of you is in the eyes of the Church.”
