Marc Cervantes, the General Counsel of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, takes on the additional role of Chancellor.
The Chancellor is appointed by the Bishop and is primarily responsible, unless otherwise specified by law, for ensuring that the acts of the curia are collected, organized, and preserved in the curia's archive. The Chancellor oversees the proper organization and accessibility of records and files that keep the diocese functioning and serve as its historical record. Additionally, the Chancellor is the official notary for documents issued by the diocesan bishop.
Fr. Richard Libby, who has held this position for the past three years, has requested his release to dedicate more time to his parish, St. Helena of the True Cross in Corpus Christi. He will continue to serve as the Theological Counsel of the diocese. Msgr. Roger Smith, who served as the Vicar for Retired Priests, has retired from active duty. Fr. Paul Hesse, the Vicar General, will assume his responsibilities.
