Twelve students from St. John Paul II High School had their hair cut short at the 10th annual "A Cut Above" event at the school on May 19. Professional hair stylists from Supercuts performed the tasks of cutting 325 inches of hair, which will be donated to cancer patients through Wigs for Kids.
Students sometimes grow their hair longer than usual, knowing it will be for a good cause.
Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody showed his support by getting his already short hair trimmed by one of the stylist. Father Peter Martinez, president of St. John Paul II High School and Bishop Garriga Middle Preparatory School, thanked the young ladies for their donation of hair and money raised for Wigs for Kids. He gave special thanks to Bishop Carmody for getting his own hair cut in solidarity with the students.
